João Gomes da Silva
He is a landscape architect and founder of GLOBAL – Arquitetura Paisagista. He graduated from the University of Évora in 1987. Since 2001, he has been an Associate Professor at Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, and since 2010, an Adjunct Professor at the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio. He has taught and lectured extensively both in Portugal and internationally, at institutions such as the University of Évora, University of Coimbra, ENSP Versailles, Harvard GSD, Culturgest, Cornell University, University of Cagliari, Knowlton School of Architecture, ETSAB Barcelona, UPenn Philadelphia, and TU Berlin. In 2025, he was honored with the Gonçalo Ribeiro Telles Award. His work has received several recognitions, including the Schinkel Prize (1991, with Inês Norton and João Mateus), the Red Dot Award, SEGD Award, D&AD In-Book Award, European Design Award (2010, with P-06), and the Piranesi Award (2010, with JLCG). His work has been exhibited at the Venice Architecture Biennale, the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, and the Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon.
