João Nunes
He is a landscape architect with a deep passion for drawing and for understanding the processes that shape the world. In 1985, he founded the PROAP studio, which, in line with his philosophy, approaches landscape in a broad and integrated way – engaging with the processes that the project becomes part of, with inputs from multiple disciplines, and viewing the landscape as a constantly evolving system. His professional work and academic practice are closely intertwined, enriching one another and contributing to the development of new avenues for research and experimentation. A visiting professor at several international institutions – including Harvard GSD, UPenn, OSU, Pamplona, and Versailles – he is currently a Full Professor at the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio and a member of multiple scientific committees. In 2013, he was awarded the first “Adalberto Libera” Chair of Excellence. He is the author of PROAP – Arquitectura Paisagista (Note, 2010) and co-author of Lost Competitions (Proap Editions, 2011).
