Book

The book ATLAS Paraíso, hoje. is not merely a catalogue of the exhibition, but one of its central curatorial elements, partially present in Venice as an object to be explored slowly and thoughtfully. As a publication, the Atlas is presented in two volumes: one featuring the Atlas of images, and the other gathering all written content – the curatorial text outlining the project’s approach; three essays written by essayist António Guerreiro, researcher and architect Maria Manuel Oliveira, and artist Nuno da Luz; interviews with four landscape architects — Aurora Carapinha, João Gomes da Silva, João Nunes, and Luís Paulo Faria Ribeiro — whose work has contributed significantly to shaping the landscape through design, research, and pedagogy; as well as a comprehensive credits section for all images.

The book is bilingual (Portuguese + English), published by Circo de Ideias, and designed by vivóeusébio. It explores diverse ways of thinking about paradise today, organized around themes such as: experience, regeneration, leisure, networks, return, cultivation, simulacrum, or fiction — while remaining open to new interpretations emerging from the Open Call submissions. The written contributions expand on these themes, offering insights into various meanings of paradise and providing tools and directions for reflecting on and working toward the future of territory and landscape.

The book will be launched in Lisbon (date to be announced), and in Venice during the Biennale finissage.
